Blog Post #8 Final Reflection

10 Amazing Blogs About Blogging to Start Reading NOW

Blogging this semester has been quite interesting. I've never blogged before, but I found it quite easy. I thought it was easy to integrate some of the readings into what I had to see. While I probably won't use blogger again (unless I choose to use it with my students...still undecided) I can see how many people would enjoy it as it's like a journal or diary. I am usually just too shy to put my thoughts out there and receive feedback. Fortunately, my peers in this class had plenty of good things to say, so the pressure was off.  I also really enjoyed reading my peers blogs. It was nice to read their thoughts and I realized that many of us think quite alike. I think my favorite blog was #7 where I was able to see everyone's multimodal composition for the book they read. I suddenly have an extensively long list of books I want to read! Overall, it was a good experience and I feel like it will only be to my advantage to have learned this skill.

While I don't think my blog posts were as good as my peers, I would say my best posts/entries would fit into each of these categories:

1. Professionalism - Post #3 My Writing Process - I was really interested in the articles we read prior to this post and I feel like I had the most to say in this post. The feelings I presented in this post are what I am most passionate about and what I plan on implementing into my classroom/teaching practice right away. https://jessicaschuler07.blogspot.com/2021/03/post-3-my-writing-process.html

2. Design - Post #7 Multimodal Composition - I like this one because I liked how my infographic turned out and I also added in pictures that applied to the novel. Even my font is a warm color that resonates with heat, dryness, even, dare I say, thirst. https://jessicaschuler07.blogspot.com/2021/04/post-7-multimodal-composition.html

3. Creativity - Post #2 Writing Coach Profile/Selfie Jamboard - I really had fun making the selfie mash-up. I wish I could've added more to it! I wasn't very creative in my boards, but this was my favorite thing so far this semester. https://jessicaschuler07.blogspot.com/2021/02/post-2-writing-coach-profileselfie.html

4. Civic Engagement - Post #1 Pros and Cons of Digital Media in Urban ELA Classrooms - This post also corresponded with the reading we had prior to posting. I think that this was the closest that matches this category. https://jessicaschuler07.blogspot.com/2021/02/post-1-my-experience.html

I saw a lot of great blogs created by my peers, but I think I would nominate Rheise for having the best blog. I think his blog was really heartfelt and very interesting. I found myself being drawn to his blog each week, curious about what he had to say. He was creative and professional, and his posts were just overall pleasant to read. 1. Hi Jessica,
Reading over your blog posts this semester has been a really great experience, so thank you! I think it's interesting that a lot of people seem to be choosing their blog post 2 as their "creative" one. After re-visiting yours I can definitely see why you chose this one to represent your creativity. Your voice really shines through when you talk about using moonlight to read the pages and your actual collage itself is really fun to look at and examine all the little parts of it! -Siraj
